Immigration

… he gave power to to become children of God, who were born, not of blood, or the will of the flesh or the will of man, but of God. — John 1:12-13.

Perhaps all the candidates who are demonizing immigrants need to take a step back and read John’s gospel. We are all God’s children. Our son and daughter-ship does not depend on who our parents are, or where we were born, and we cannot earn it. We are all his children by God’s grace fully given to each and every one of us. Every discussion about immigration, about citizenship, and about rights needs to begin with an acknowledgement that each and every one of us is not only a citizen of the world created by God, but we are all his children. Children who were “born, not of blood, or the will of the flesh or the will of man, but of God.”
