Angry

No one else ‘makes us angry.’ We make ourselves angry when we
surrender control of our attitude. What someone else may have
done is irrelevant. We choose, not they. They merely put our
attitude to a test. — Jim Rohn

I thought I had every right to be angry this morning. Walking to the car to go to the YMCA I was accosted by a reporter who asked me questions but wouldn’t identify himself or who he was.
After the encounter, I realized I wasn’t mad at him, but at myself. I was caught unawares and didn’t respond with the calm demeanor I wished.
Looking back over my life, I think my anger usually appears when I lose control, not because of another’s thoughtless actions.
Rohn is right — “What someone else may have done is irrelevant.” I choose, not they.
Lesson learned let’s hope, for there will be plenty of other opportunities.
