I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. — John 16:12-13.
Do you think Christ was only talking to his followers at the time, or do you think this message is true today and the Holy Spirit speaks to you?
Concerning this passage, I tend to believe that what was true then is just as true now. No I am not a literalist, far from it. I believe that we live in a different time that calls for different answers, but I also don’t discount the possibility that as Christ promised his disciples, the Holy Spirit continues to live in us and show us God’s will when we face a new situation.
And he keeps that promise to all that rely upon God.
Today’s problems and concerns wear different hats and dress differently than Christ’s, but the light of God’s answers remain with each and everyone of us whether it is found in the Bible or in our heart.
