Times of Affliction

It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. — Psalmist 119:71

I’m not totally onboard with the psalmist here. I believe it is in the time of darkness that we learn about God not his rules.
Who amongst us hasn’t at least at one point in our life said, “God, I need your help.”  I’ve been there so many times I’ve lost count.
It is in those times of affliction that we turn to God, felt God’s grace, and grown from the experience.
It in those times, where we go from knowing about God to knowing God — the move from the head to the heart.
God’s comfort in the times of affliction is greater than any trouble we face.
So yes like the psalmist, know that it is good for us to have been afflicted, for it is when we experience the God’s mercy and comfort.
