Take Up The Cross

He said to them all, “If any want to become my followers. let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”  — Luke 9:23

For many of us we have two kinds of relationships with God.

One is easy-going and comfortable. You don’t have to change anything in your life and one day after the other is much the same.
The second requires you to get out of your comfort zone, to deny yourself, and serve others and work for justice.
During a lifetime we go back and forth from being comfortable to being active and then back to comfortable.
I sometimes think God is watching us and just when we get to comfortable, he finds a way to get us off our couch or up from the easy chair.
The intervening cause may be an injustice we can’t ignore, a family member or a friend who needs help, or maybe its simply the sad eyes of a stranger that you can’t ignore.
Don’t worry if your in that comfort zone right now, God will find a way to hand you the next cross.
