The Cock Crowed For The Second Time

At that moment the cock crowed for a second time. Then Peter remembered that Jesus had said to him, “Before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept. Mark 14:72

The cock crowed for a second time. How many times have I read this passage in Mark and failed to realize the symbolism.
A rooster crows when the sun rises, when we wake from slumber. Peter didn’t realize it then in fact he thought his world had ended, but in truth it had just begun.
How often does it take a tragedy, a hitting bottom, a my life is over moment to make us waken from our sleepy existence to the life we were meant to live.
When we come to the end of our rope, it is time to let go and fall into the loving arms of God.
In our surrender we experience salvation.
PS: Congratulations to Luis, Lu, and all Tar Heel fans.
