War Against Ourself

Man’s attitude toward nature is today critically important simply because we have now acquired a fateful power to alter and destroy nature. But man is part of nature, and his war against nature is inevitably a war against himself. — Rachel Carson.

When we are destructive in any way we are waging war against ourself. When we direct anger at someone else we are also directing a portion of that anger toward ourselves. When we scream at our children, we harm ourselves.

We are all part of God’s creation, and before we go about waging war or engaging in destruction we should consider who we are really battling.
