Promises

A popular expression about promises is “they are like pie crusts — easily made and easily broken.” Grandma Danny gives us another view: “A promise is a sacred thing. Be not in haste to make it. But once a promise you have made. Be sure you do not break it.”

A broken promise or a kept promise says a lot about an individual. Perhaps that is why Christ said, “Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’…” (Matthew 5:37, see also James 5:12).
Are your promises pie crusts or sacred?
