You Can Run, But Sure Can’t Hide

There are many versions of the song and phrase “You Can Run, But You Cannot Hide.” My favorite is by the group, “Canned Heat.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhmwwDoMHnU.

You may remember the group from the movie Woodstock singing “Going Up the Country” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6smtAY8dXSI.
However you remember the phrase, it is dead on when it comes to our emotions. When we act in a way that separates us from God, your deed may be hidden from your family and friends, but you know what you did and so does God. The real danger being that small acts of separation and defiance accumulate in our hearts causing us to be subsumed with guilt, as if we were fleeing with no one pursuing.
When the hidden tentacles of guilt take over our heart God waits patiently. Waits patiently for us to take that first step. The first step to narrow the divide, and no matter how small the step he will then remove all the entanglements between you.
