Wednesday in the First Week of Lent

. . . no one who learns to know himself remains just what he was before. — Thomas Mann

Through prayer, meditation, fasting, and service we change, bit by bit, day by day. Lent is all about learning about ourselves and change. A week ago on Ash Wednesday as you began your Lenten discipline, you took a step toward knowledge of self and it changed you, probably just a little but no matter how much you changed you will never be what you were before. Each day the change occurs and your life becomes better. How long does it go on for? As long as the Lenten season — No. It keeps getting better as long as we keep learning about ourselves.
