Take a Breath

Yesterday, marked the two year anniversary of when my friend Marty, received a double lung transplant, she named Thelma and Louise. A true miracle of modern science and of God, who continues to remind us that out of tragedy, even death, miracles and other good things happen.

I was thinking about this when I heard on NPR an interview of a man who armored car robbery is the basis of a new movie called “Masterminds.” Apparently it is a comedy, and when asked how he felt about the movie being a comedy he said, “With all the bad things going on in the world, we all need to ‘take a breath.’”
Meditation and Yoga instructors are constantly emphasizing “taking a deep breath.”
I think of the many expressions in the human language, we all understand what it means to “take a breath.”
There have been times in my life, and I am sure there have been times in your life, where all we could do is “to take breath.” It seemed like nothing else worked in our life.
Breathing in air is something we all share with all other living things, perhaps we ought to consider what else we have in common.
Today is a today to mark our universality with all living things, and to “take a breath.”
