Are We In A Hurry For The Right Things?

I just finished Neil deGrasse’s, Astrophysics for People In a Hurry .

One cannot help but marvel at the universe, and the more we understand about the world the more it reinforces my belief in God.

But it also makes me sad. For you see, we can fly people to the moon, probe the mysteries of the galaxies, and understand astrophysics, but we haven’t yet found a way to understand and get along with our neighbor. We have the capability to grow food to feed the entire planet, but we haven’t yet discovered a way to deliver that same food to those who are starving. Medical science comes up with major breakthroughs in health care on a regular basis, but we haven’t yet had the will to offer basic health care to all in need.

It boils down to the fact, that we continually create new fruits in the world, but we choose not to create a system where those same fruits can be eaten. And the failure hangs over us like a great sorrow.
