To Reframe Issues Into Realities Of The Heart.

I found the above quote in a journal I kept during my sabbatical. During yesterday’s walk, I remembered Zukov’s words while I was considering whether words that used to have spiritual meanings such as justice and peace have been tarnished by political associations. Everything has become an issue, and we have taken humanity and concerns of the heart out of the discussion.

Until we can see the face of a starving child, feeding the poor becomes an issue, not the moral obligation we all have. Until we know a person who decides to die rather than burden his family with overwhelming medical bills, can we understand that we should all sacrifice to make sure that doesn’t happen in this country. Until we talk one on one to man who served over forty years in solitary, can we understand the cruelty of such treatment and put a face on the word injustice. The list can go on and on.

Our task is to reframe issues into realities of the heart.
