Look To See What Has Been Added

You don’t have to be afraid of change. You don’t have to worry about what’s been taken away. Just look to see what’s been added.
— Jackie Greer

Lent is a time of change, and way too often we concentrate on what has been taken away — oatmeal raisin cookies, a glass of wine, social media, Television, etc.

Instead we should be focused on what has changed for the better and what have we added to our life — the calm brought on by meditation, the friend we had been missing through prayer, the feeling of community with our neighbors through service, and/or the physical well being brought on by our sacrifice.

When you hear a friend or family member grumbling about Lent, remind them to “look to see what has been added.”
