My next door neighbor’s brother, Ryan Odom, is the head coach of UMBC (University of Maryland Baltimore County) which upset number one ranked Virginia last night in the NCAA Basketball Championships. Every now and then we are reminded why sports can be so much fun and cause for celebration. It even got me out of my funk caused by my beloved Razorbacks’ defeat earlier in the day.
Depending on the way you celebrate Lent, there are a few feast days in the Lenten season, a time for celebration.
We travel lots of paths during a lifetime, but no matter how rigorous every now and then we need to stop. We need to rest. We need to restore our souls with laughter and joy of connection. Without the moments of joy and celebration our ordeals lack purpose.
May I suggest that during Lent search out and find a kindred spirit from an unexpected source and connect with a smile, laughter, and language.
Some of us were depressed.
