A Hundred Objects Close By

I know a cure for sadness: Let your hands touch something that makes your eyes smile.

I bet there are a hundred objects close by that can do it.

Mirabai is the most renowned woman poet-saint of India. When I read this poem I thought of my grandchildren’s new puppy. You want a cure for sadness, play with a puppy.

Mira is correct we are surrounded by objects that are sure to bring a change in mood. A photo album, a book we’ve read so many times the binding is coming loose, or a comfortable blanket that breaks a morning chill. Sadness, pity parties, and bad moods are all curable. Simply reach for one of a hundred things.
