Humility’s Role In Life’s Calling

I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with another in love. — Ephesians 4:1-2
Paul’s plea is as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago. Who doesn’t yearn for more humility and gentleness these days in our leaders, in our athletes, our entertainers, and our neighbors.
I think we all struggle with Paul’s plea that we lead “a life worthy of our calling.” To discover one’s calling is quite an accomplishment, but to then lead a life worthy of our calling is indeed a challenge.
So one asks, “what role does humility play in a life worthy of one’s calling?”
Humility comes from the heart of God as a gift, and it helps us see others as God sees them, hear in them God’s truth, and to learn from them God’s ways in example and failures.
Every human bears a part of the truth a community needs. Humility is found in silence as another awaits the truth in our’s words.
To live a life worthy of one’s calling requires humility, gentleness, patience, and love.
Seek, teach, and live your life with humility, and a life worthy of your calling is right around the corner.
