Something Missing?

Like millions of other families, our Christmas needed a few adjustments because of Covid. However, what it did for me is make me realize what made the season and the day. It wasn’t the presents, it was the hugs. It wasn’t the big dinner, it was sitting at the table laughing and telling stories. It wasn’t the fire in the fireplace, it was cuddling under a blanket with the grandkids watching a sappy movie. I’ve never been a fan of office Christmas parties, but I miss seeing everyone dress up to the nines. I miss chats with store owners while I browse his or her store and lunch with a friend on Christmas eve. The big things were still there, but the little things were missing.

I bet everyone felt like there was something missing, but that’s not such a bad thing. Sometime we have to lose something or go without to make us appreciate what is missing. I know I will.
