During Lent we learn to change our perspective. If you are are lost in the woods you can just stay where you are and be anxious. Or you can climb a tree to get a different view of where you are, or you can start to go downhill where water is likely to be discovered.
The fears and suffering which we encounter in one place are left behind as we move on. We need not struggle with any difficulty upon the plane where it appears. We often find sunshine if we simply move to a different altitude.
