Unanswered Question

O the depth of riches both of the wisdom and Knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His – ways past finding out! – Romans 11:33

It doth not appear what shall be. – 1 John 3:2

No star is lost we once have seen

We always may be what we might have been.

Since Good, though only a thought, has life and breath. – A.A. Procter

I, like Job, struggle from  time to time about why God lets certain things happen. It’s one of those universal questions. Many read Job and study many well-reasoned writers and conclude that we can never get to the answer, and we must accept on faith that there is an overall plan. They may be right. But consider another possibility, and include it in one of your meditations – God doesn’t want us to accept the unanswered question. Therefore don’t relinquish your desire for an answer, though it may not be fulfilled or you may forget your inquiry for a time. When we seek such an answer we do so out of love – love of God, love of our neighbor, and yes sometime love of our own life.  God as the source of all love only asks of us that our inquiry to be grounded in love, and if we do so our quest will one day be fruitful.  Maybe not today, maybe not in our lifetime, but eventually you will have your answer and you will be the better than if you never asked. Often, the answer is in the asking.
