When all is said and done, we’re just all walking each other home. — Ram Dass
This quote seems so inconsistent with the way the world is now. I am troubled more and more by what seems to be an ever-growing division among people of different faiths, politics, sex and sexual orientation, race, and country of origin. I search for a solution that seems to allude us all.
Yet it seems to me that Ram Dass has it so durn right. It seems inconceivable that we can remain angry with whom we walk home. No joy is greater than having a two year old reach up and grab your hand (or in my case, finger) as we stroll home from the park. One of my favorite images in the Bible is God walking in the Garden of Eden at the time of the evening breeze. (Genesis 3:8).
Perhaps it is time for all of us to lace up our walking shoes, literally and figuratively, and begin one person at a time to walk each other home.
