Three things are never satisfied; four things never say enough: (Proverbs 30:15)
When we reduce our life to satisfying worldly and personal needs we are never satisfied, we never say enough. Look around. How much wealth is enough? How many cars, boats, shoes does one need? (Okay, sorry Suzy, I understand shoes fall into a different category). But you get my point.
King Solomon pursued all the riches and worldly delights he could acquire, but in the end what did he say? Everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind, nothing was gained under the sun. (Eccles. 2:1).
Wealth in itself is not the problem. It is when our appetite for wealth becomes all consuming, enough is never enough, and we forget gratitude, humility, generosity, and the many other true gifts we are called to acquire and of which enough is truly never enough.
This morning during your meditation consider the difference between the worldly things that are meaningless, and the things not of this world you should be acquiring.
