Spiritual Health

Most but not all of us wander through life without much thought to our health, except thanks to Madison Avenue we are obsessed with our weight and appearance. Our health is but a footnote to our main narrative. We attribute our good health to our own abilities and make-up. When something negative happens we complain about our bad luck or blame someone other than ourselves. Only then do we pay proper attention to our health.

For most of us, but not all, our spiritual lives follow a similar pattern. In our daily lives, God serves only as a footnote to the main narrative. Only when tragedy strikes do we turn to God and pray for mercy and forgiveness.
Both patterns in reality are pictures of an unhealthy existence. In this morning’s meditation get ye to a physician and heal oneself physically and spiritually. I write this for myself first and foremost.
