Who Do You Trust?

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. — Psalm 118: 8-9

Probably not many of you remember a TV game show called “Who Do You Trust.” It aired in the afternoons and its famous for introducing two characters to TV — Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon of the Tonight Show fame.
The Psalmist tells us to take “refuge in the Lord” rather than to trust man or princes. It’s a warning we often fail to heed, and then we are disappointed when man and princes prove not to be worthy of our trust.
We are over a year away from electing a new President. We will hear countless promises over the next year, and we will hear hundreds of pleas to trust in a certain man or woman wanting to become our nation’s prince or princess.
It is better “to take refuge in the Lord.”
