Wednesday In Holy Week

Only those who see the invisible, can accomplish the impossible. — Anon

The tragic events in Brussels bring the above wisdom to my mind. The photos are gruesome reminders of a world gone mad, and the angry responses will only divide us further.
During this Holy Week we are reminded that in overcoming death Jesus “accomplished the impossible.” He chose not to call down the wrath of God on his torturers, but asked that they be “forgiven, for they know not what they do.”
Jesus saw the invisible, and those who follow him must follow his example not just in our reaction to Brussels, but in the way we live.
In our desire to accomplish the impossible — peace on earth, we must see with different eyes the invisible — a response that does not include walls, arrogance, and reactive violence.
If our leaders continue to fan the fires of hatred and distrust, it is up to us (those who see the invisible) to accomplish what they cannot.
