Question

When you ask someone a question are you really listening to their answer or are you just waiting to jump in and answer your own question?
I certainly know people who do the above all the time. Their question is simply an entree’ to a subject they want to show off how much they know about.
My reaction is usually not to say much when asked a question by someone who clearly isn’t interested in my answer. There is an American Indian saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
Before you experience a good teacher, you must be open to what they have to say.
Before you ask a question, remind yourself to pause and ask, “Am I ready to listen.”
If not, don’t ask.
