Don’t Have Time To Relax?

The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it. — Sydney J. Harris

“I’m overwhelmed at work,” or “the kids take up all my time, I don’t get a moment’s rest,” or “What I wouldn’t give for a few minutes rest.” Heard or said this before? I bet you have.

Does your day really not have time for a long hot shower or bath, time to call an old girlfriend and shoot the breeze, or simply sit on park bench watching the wind blow through the trees. How about a glass of wine on a front porch in the evening shade?

As Sydney Harris reminds us if you don’t have time to relax then you need to make time. Taking time to rest for a moment is the cheapest and healthiest thing we can do in our busy day. When we truly rest we stop focusing  on the outside and material world and we check on how we are doing on the inside. Our mind calms and often we hear or feel God’s presence.

Where do you relax? Go there today. “Do not pass ‘go’ and do not collect $200.” It is worth much more than Monopoly money.
