Did God really call that famous leader a goofball? If he did, no need to worry about God anymore — He is doing just fine, and we are all a lot better off than I really suspected. — Tukaram.
No, I am not trying to make a political statement. Tukuram was a 17th century poet/saint who could not have been talking about any of today’s world leaders. But his witty poem tells us a little bit about the nature of God.
God does have a sense of humor, and despite the constant drumbeat of the media, God does see people for who they are and “we are all a lot better off than” people tell us we are.
Maybe I should pray, “God, help me be able to recognize the goofballs of this world and help me retain my sense of humor, and in so doing I will be just fine.”
What do you think?
Since you asked, Webb, I DO think our country’s leader is a goofball, or worse. However, I am comforted by a line in a Sufi prayer I say each night: “Send thy peace, o’ Lord, that I may endure all, tolerate all in the thought of thy grace and mercy.” I try to keep Mr. Trump’s choices and actions out of my serious thoughts. Helps keep stress lower. Tom
