Mingle the starlight with your lives and you won’t be fretted by trifles. — the pioneering 19th-century astronomer Maria Mitchell.
Years of learning has taught me to to be more conscious of my surroundings and to appreciate what I used to take for granted. One of those surroundings is the night sky and the mystery and wonder of the stars. The more I’ve learned about our universe the more in awe I am. I find it impossible to believe that the order of the heavens with its black holes and exploding stars is random and not part of a design that is truly beyond my comprehension.
Maybe the cosmos is what Maria Mitchell was talking about, but that’s not what drew me to her words. Instead it is the thought that we all need to mingle into our day a little starlight — the mystery that is the universe.
Maybe an overdose next week!
Hope so!
