Gather Our Strength

God doesn’t seem to care how old we are when he issues his call.

There are just times when he/she says, “It is time to gather your strength, and get back in the game.”   If you are like me you resist the call initially, but then you hitch up your pants and reenter the fray.

My football teammates laugh at today’s ball players who run a few plays and then ask to come out of the game for a rest. We couldn’t imagine what our old school coaches would say if we asked our coach to come out of the game for a rest. The next game we might not have made the traveling squad.

God is old school in that regard. He didn’t design us to ride the bench gathering splinters. Whatever the call or task it is time to gather your strength and sprint out onto the field of life.
