This morning was a random meditation based on on the question, how do I live a life of cohesion and beauty when life is full of brokenness and pain?
How did I get there this morning? I read about the shooting in Texas, how does a request for someone to quiet down so one’s baby can sleep escalate to brutal mass murder?
Perhaps, it is only when the heart breaks that real life rushes in. When we think we are in control we are only deceiving ourselves. Our true calling is to find love and beauty when disaster surrounds. But how do we do that?
We begin by recognizing the pain we feel and the brokenness we see as part of life. The more we try to avoid it, the more it will control us.
How do we find love and beauty amongst the ruins so to speak? — Through writing, art, music, or any other form of self-expression that feels right. A slow walk in the woods can turn brokenness to gentleness. Beauty is there every day and everywhere, even if it’s something small — a beautiful sunset, a kind gesture from a stranger, or the smile of a loved one.
It is possible to compose a life of cohesion and beauty out of brokenness. Yes. We can’t control it, but it’s there if we search.
When you read and practise The Course in Miracles you have a different understanding.
Beautifully written; different for each individual but always a challenge to find what brings us peace!
Beautifully said, Webb. I believe that beauty abounds if only we allow ourselves to see it, experience it. Several Sufi prayers and poems refer to God as “the perfection of Love, Harmony and Beauty.”
