Gratitude

Today we begin my favorite holiday week — Thanksgiving.

I extend Thanksgiving beyond a day because I have so much to be thankful, this year especially. One day of giving thanks is hardly sufficient in my case.

I apologize that the Pew has been idle for the last weeks, but it is extremely fitting that we return on Thanksgiving week.

My list of those to give thanks has grown a lot over the last year. If it was a prayer list I would spend the whole week on my knees at St. Peter’s.

May I suggest you take some time each day to give thanks for something specific you wouldn’t normally offer up at Thanksgiving dinner? Perhaps thank God for a friend who offered you a random act of kindness, thanks for a special message you received during the year that has stuck with you, or just simply the gift of life that is so precious and yet so fragile.

I thank you all for taking me into your day on occasion when the Pew arrives in your inbox.
