During Lent we learn that we don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it. Too often we think of Lent as a time of sacrifice and quiet reflection, but it also can be a time where we try something new. Whether it is painting, skydiving, ballroom dancing, or pickle ball the key is to approach new experiences with an open mind, a sense of humor, and a focus on having fun and learning, rather than achieving perfection. Be childlike, embrace the stumbles, laugh at the mistakes, and celebrate the joy of trying something new, even if you’re not a natural.
Who knows, your lenten experience may lead to a whole new form of recreation or pleasure.
