Be Still

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. — Psalm 37:7.

One thing that doesn’t come naturally is being still. Watch any child, and within minutes you know what I mean. Sitting or standing still is an impossibility. I know many adults who never learned to be still. They are always in motion.

Our psalmists tells us to be still before the Lord. That too is not easy, especially when the church pews are hard and uncomfortable. Yet one of my most special times is to go into church early, before people start coming in and filling the church with sounds of greeting one another and when it its quiet, and only a few people are in the church, it is a good time to understand the joy of being still before the Lord. Try it sometime.

Wherever you choose to wait patiently for God will soon become a special place, I promise.
