Teach Them To Your Children

You shall put these words of mine in your heart and soul, …. — Deuteronomy 11:18.

Deuteronomy 11:18 reminds us to put God’s words in your heart and soul.  Reflecting on my own upbringing, I recognize the profound impact of parental example, both positive and negative. Lent offers a sacred space for personal spiritual renewal through prayer and study, and a critical time to embody God’s word for our children. It’s not enough to simply tell them what is right; we must demonstrate it through our daily choices. Our lives are a lesson, not just for our children, but for the world: our actions echo, shaping future generations. Lent provides an opportunity to emphasize the Golden Rule, a principle found in nearly every major religion. Discuss this with your children, exploring its universal relevance and its practical application in their lives. Let us strive to live in a way that cultivates kindness and understanding.
