The threshold of Holy Week draws near. Soon, palms will stir in our hands, a joyful echo before the silence of Good Friday descends. For some, the nearing close of Lent may bring a sigh of relief; for others, a yearning to deepen the disciplines embraced. Each journey, distinct yet sacred, guides us toward its own encounter with the divine.
I offer a challenge, one that asks for intentional stillness amidst the clamor. Consider gently drawing the curtain on the relentless noise of the external world, the constant hum of the material. Loosen our grip on the habitual scrolls of social media, the urgent pronouncements of the news, the anxious glances at bank accounts. Instead, let our precious time be intentionally offered to the ancient pathways of Lent: prayer that stills the soul, study that illuminates the heart, service that extends God’s love, and sacrifice that refines our spirit.
In this special season, let your hearts turn with renewed warmth to the embrace of family and friends, those anchors of earthly grace. And if your spirit calls, may your feet find their way to the sanctuary, a space where the echoes of faith resonate through generations. Let us also open our eyes wide to the burgeoning glory around us – the vibrant green unfurling on every branch, the delicate artistry of blossoming flowers. May we dedicate moments to marveling at and immersing ourselves in the breathtaking tapestry of God’s creation, finding within it whispers of the Creator’s boundless love.
