Angels are singing this week because a truly wonderful man has joined them in Heaven. If this universe makes any sense at all, they will be welcoming my old friend with open arms.
Henry taught me how to make really good and spicy chili. Too hot and spicy if you ask my children. He introduced me to fine wines and world class restaurants, but he enjoyed a burger and a beer with the rest of us. He was the kindest man I ever knew. I never saw him lose his cool or temper. He never told me that he won the bronze star and the distinguished flying cross for bravery in Vietnam, but I’m not surprised that he earned them or that he never told me. I remember when he bought his old corvette and his classic Chris-Craft. He was like a child with a new toy both times. He couldn’t wait to take me for a ride. One of my favorite memories was of our times in DC when Marti and Henry came up and they spent the night in the White House.
He taught me how to duck hunt, hit a wedge shot off concrete, and admire his playing a classical saxophone. I used to kid him about his skill as a putter in golf or lack there of, but when it came to operating on an eye muscle of a new born infant there was none better in the world.
Henry taught us all to be better husbands and fathers by example, and to give back to his community every single day of his life. This earthly world will miss Henry, but we will always remember him for he will always be with us.

Wow, attended Judge Billy Roy’s Memorial last Friday and now Dr. Henry. May they rest in peace.
