In the Present

How often have you heard the term “living in the present.” I am sure there is a whole warehouse full of books on the subject, seminars to attend, and gurus who explain how to accomplish this state. So why not throw my two cents in the ring.

First, the problem of today is sufficient unto today. This is easier than it sounds, but if you catch yourself scattering your forces, living past, present, and future all at once, call yourself back.

Second, if it the future is unclear, and you can’t see what is wise for you to do next year, what plans you should make for next month, what you should do tomorrow, simply ask yourself if there is something for you to do today. Chances are you will find something that is very well worth doing. When you have settled upon the wisest thing for today, do it as well as you can – you will be led to see what you are to do next.
