I had my annual check up yesterday, and at my age and condition one goes to such events with trepidation. My unwarranted fears turn to relief when I’m told that things are still okay, and I’m given the usual lecture to lose weight and eat healthy. When I was young I thought I was invincible, and only time and experience have taught me that things can go wrong.
Wouldn’t it be nice to continue the attitude of the young, where we didn’t fear the future or dread aging? I’d like to return to my youth where there were no limits to possibilities, and dreams seemed possible. I admire those who are ageless in their outlook, and if they have fears they are well concealed.
Maybe the first step toward that sweet bird of youth is to do or act spontaneously. Once upon a time, I went to Europe for a month with two teammates on $5 dollars a day without an itinerary or plan. Such a trip is what we do when we are young. Suzy read a book last week on Acadia National Park. Neither of us have ever been to Maine. Guess where we head in a few weeks with minimal planning. Come sweet bird of youth!
Yep, off we go!! I’m trusting you to keep that youthful attitude!!!
