Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.—Psalm 23:4
The twenty-third psalm most of us know by heart, or in my case I can still recite with a little prompting. I used to recite it early and often in Sunday school, Boy Scouts, and before we went to sleep. I bet you did too.
In my many years, I have noticed how a devout soul is comfortable in every state, whether it be in good health or poor, poverty or wealth, in danger or safe in bed. He/she makes every occasion one of either rising up, or falling down into the hands of God. Every moment he/she exercises faith, trust, and resignation to God. In the light he looks up to God, and in the darkness she lays hold of God.
One of the best learning tools is by way of example. One of the best, is to follow one who knows that “Thou art with me. Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me.”
