Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies — Nelson Mandela

 

We all have our favorite Mandella quotes, I have several. I chose the one above because it is wisdom for us all, and personally I found it a perfect response when I’m asked if I’m bitter or resent what happened a long time ago.

One doesn’t have to be in prison or be tortured to feel resentment or bitterness. It is an emotion that crops up often, but as Mandella warns we must not let it inside. We must leave it at the door. The antidote for resentment is love, God’s love, a love your enemies type of love, that takes a strong will and God’s help. It may seem difficult or impossible, but as with all things with God’s help all things are possible.
