Tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope. – ROM. 5, 3,4.
My grandmother on occasion would say when she heard bad news or of someone’s troubles – “No good can come from that.” I have learned though that sometimes what seems to be the world coming to the end, may in time and with the right attitude, become something good or “some good did in fact come from that.” Patience, leading to experience, leading to hope works miracles.
When the future is dim, when our depressed faculties can foresee “no good coming from” a situation – it is still possible to believe that God’s tender mercy will bring light to the darkness of the moment. Our duty, though sometimes trodden with heavy heart, is to continue on with God’s work. In this patient, though uncheered obedience, be gain experience and ultimately hope. Our soul gathers force.
