Many authors, poets, artists, etc. have talked about the last two years as having been lost when it comes to their creativity. There are many exceptions of course.
It goes against logic. Extra time should have made us more productive, not less. Yet from my experience writing during COVID seemed like staring at four blank walls — no windows to the world, no art, and not even a child’s crayon scribbling on the baseboards. No door either. The only way out of the room meant tearing down protection — the last barrier.
Of course, I exaggerate, but over time it did feel like the room was shrinking. I am not an anti-vaccer or no-mask rebel, far from it. I have had all my shots and two boosters. I have even been known to wear a mask while driving alone. But, I’ve done very little about the creative vacuum.
It is time for a change. Suzy and I decided we can do something about “the four walls” without risking our health. You might consider doing something similar. Now the question will be, “Is there a book to be finshed?” I’ll let you know at the conclusion of this adventure.
By the way, I bet you can guess where we are:
