I am a firm believer in the proposition that we are all here for a purpose, God’s purpose not our own, and no matter how long we stick around that purpose will be fulfilled.
When it comes to one’s faith I have friends who experiment, and I admire their exploration. Luis says “go wherever the light burns brightest.” But there is a difference between sincere searching for purpose and meaning and “dabbling.” If we hop from one belief to the next, yoga one week, buddhism the next, and Christianity the following we also lose sight of the goal — to find an organizing center of our life and something that demands of us the very best that we can be.
The beauty of Christianity is at its core is love and service. Our purpose is a lasting and permanent obligation to love with all our heart and mind all of our fellow humans and God. And to seek out ways to serve them both.
