For it was you who formed my inward parts: you knit me together in my mother’s womb. — Psalm 139:13
Yesterday we began with the thought — “Who am I?”
In my case, I was not only knit together in my mother’s womb, I was also knit together again by gifted surgeons, with God guiding their hands, to put me together again. I was given a special gift and a special responsibility. But so were each and every one of us.
When you consider the question: “Who am I?”, God’s knitting includes all those parts of ourselves that we think aren’t very interesting, or too embarrassing to discuss. Yet God knows those parts of us just as well as those we put on exhibition and loves us for the complete person just the way we are.
So the new beginning of Advent gives us an opportunity to reclaim and share all of who we are, knowing we are valued and loved just the way we are — the total package.
Meditate today on the complete person you are and ask yourself how do I want to “begin again” this very day.
