Tragedy can strike in an instant, recovery requires patience.
One thing I learned after my fall is that it doesn’t take but a second to injure oneself, but building back one takes time and work. My therapist gave me some good advice at my last session. He told me that each time I started the next drill or exercise I would go very fast, as if I wanted to get over the drill as fast as I could. Then when I would subconsciously realize that i was about to trip, fall, or fail I would slow down and get the full benefit of the exercise.
Of course, I took his sound advice until the next exercise, but I did remember what he said. As I thought about what he said, it came to me that his words applied to aa lot more than squats and sidesteps. How often have I rushed into a project or reacted to a tragedy without thinking. It was only when I slowed it down did I overcome.
