I really didn’t know that the above was today’s lesson when I wrote yesterday’s Pew or made my fingers-crossed promise to hold my tongue. Today’s verse does however reinforce my resolve.
Even though they didn’t have social media in biblical days, apparently they did have trash talking and name calling. Don’t you wonder what St. Paul would think of Twitter and Tic Toc?
Many of you have written that I am not being realistic given the current political climate. You are probably right, and yes there are some who only respond to the language of bullies, but I can count on my hands the times I regret not saying something, where I need a calculator to count the times I regret blurting out something I immediately wished I could take back.
Speak only to build up, rather than tear down, is a good rule to follow for what comes out of my mouth.
