He Hears Us

And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. — 1 John 5:14.

The author of 1 John doesn’t promise we will get what we ask God, but he promises that God does hear us. Many times just being heard is all we need.

I believe in prayer, and there have been many times I’ve turned to God and in his/her own way my prayer was answered. What I don’t have is a good track record in listening to God when he calls me. I wish I could say, “that when God asks, I hear and act,” but that would be selective memory.

Perhaps, in my next round of prayers I should ask, “Please help me be a better listener to your call.”
