Show Me A Sign

They asked him to show them a sign from heaven. — Matthew 16:1b.

This verse reflects a common human tendency. We often think God is testing us when faced with challenges like a friend’s illness, a personal setback, or a family conflict. In these moments, we might be tempted, like the Hebrew leaders, to ask God for a sign, a miracle, or a quick fix.

However, the verse suggests a different perspective. Perhaps our troubles aren’t tests, but experiences that shape us. Just as nature has beauty and hardship, life has its share of joys and sorrows. Instead of demanding God take away our problems, we can ask for strength and comfort to navigate them. This shift in perspective, from demanding solutions to seeking support, can be a powerful one.
