Kindness Abounds

Yesterday, I had the distinct pleasure of attending my first book club meeting for Light of Day. This particular group has been a constant in my writing journey, supporting me through the publication of every novel I’ve penned. While the membership has evolved over the years, the camaraderie and intellectual exchange have remained steadfast.

The gathering yesterday was a delightful mix of familiar faces and new additions. Some members had followed my work for years, while others were experiencing a Jack Patterson thriller for the first time. I was humbled by their enthusiasm and the thoughtful questions they posed.

As an author, I deeply value the feedback and insights from my readers. Their comments and suggestions are invaluable in shaping my work and ensuring that I’m connecting with my audience on a meaningful level. I’m grateful for the support and encouragement they’ve shown me throughout my career.

Of course, given our location in North Carolina, the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helena was a topic of conversation. However, I was heartened to hear how much of the discussion focused on the incredible acts of kindness and heroism that have emerged in the aftermath. It’s inspiring to witness the way communities come together in times of crisis.

While I may not understand the reasons behind natural disasters, I firmly believe that humanity’s response to tragedy is a testament to the enduring power of compassion and empathy. In the face of adversity, the very best of our nature shines through.
